At 4Points Expeditions, we have an amazing crew of professional employees and contractors, but are always interested in new guides interested in joining our team as employees or contract guides. We are currently looking for outdoor professionals who share a love for the mountain lifestyle and are avid backpacker/adventurers. We have different categories of trips for guides to choose from including:

  • Backpacking
  • Kayaking
  • Rock Climbing
  • Snorkeling

4POINTS CONTRACT GUIDE & EMPLOYEE HIRING APPLICATION PROCESS

We operate at the highest standards in the mountain guiding industry and require our lead guides to have specific professional training and experience depending on the type of activity, customer experience level and terrain they will be guiding.

PROCESS FOR EMPLOYEE APPLICANTS:

Full time and part time employee applicants are required to fill out the job application and submit a resume and identification documents. Once we receive your application and documents, we will review your qualifications and certifications, and notify you if we would like you to attend a one-day group interview with our team.

All employee applicants are required to submit the following information during the interview process.

  1. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Demonstrate employment eligibility documentation (i.e., submit any of the following 3 options: (1) Social Security card and Driver’s License, or (2) Passport, or (3) current work visas).
  3. Complete the appropriate job application on the 4Points website.
  4. Employees may be required to have WFR, & CPR certifications prior to hiring.
  5. All employees will need to obtain a valid CA Food Handlers Certificate.
  6. Submit a Work Availability Calendar (Excel, pdf) indicating your availability for the summer season.
  7. Submit any current Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Leave No Trace Trainer (LNT), California Food Handlers certificates or documentation of your intent to complete (e.g., receipts, course syllabus, advertised dates, etc.). 4Points does offer WFR and CPR courses as part of our standard staff yearly training for all re-certifications. WFR and CPR courses are not offered as part of pre-employment training and must be obtained before employment. Certificates above and beyond these minimums will carry additional weight in the hiring process and pay scale. Examples of additional certifications include: Leave No Trace Trainer, Avalanche Levels I, II or III, and various American Mountain Guide Association certificates, & WEMT.

PROCESS FOR GUIDE CONTRACTORS:

  • Submit any current Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Leave No Trace Trainer (LNT), California Food Handlers certificates or documentation of your intent to complete (e.g., receipts, course syllabus, advertised dates, etc.). 4Points does offer WFR and CPR courses as part of our standard staff yearly training for all re-certifications. WFR and CPR courses are not offered as part of pre-employment training and must be obtained before employment. Certificates above and beyond these minimums will carry additional weight in the hiring process and pay scale.   • Experienced guides who have more than 5 years of back-country guiding experience will be given first choice of trips. In addition to the requirements mentioned for contract guides, experienced guide contractors must present a strong climbing or guiding resume, and references.
  • All contractors will have to be Live Scanned
  • Contract Guides will be required to sign the Independent Contractor Agreement for each trip they guide.

NEW CONTRACT AND EMPLOYEE HIRE EXPECTATIONS:

  • All newly hired employees and contracted guides will be required to participate in Live Scan
  • All newly hired employees, whether entry-level or experienced, are required to participate in mandatory pre-employment training which will include a thorough orientation to our company, our mission, internal business processes and to our teaching / guiding techniques.
  • Once this training session is completed, the applicant is in position to begin employment. The exact starting dates will depend on our staffing needs.

CONTRACT GUIDE PAY AND COMPENSATION:

  • Pay is based on a guide’s experience and training/certification level.
  • Pay rates start at $125 per day and go up based on training/certification level, type of guide specific to trip and overnight rates.
