Before the trip

For any pre-trip information please contact us either by email info@4pointsguides.com or by phone at (805) 320-7602. Any emails or calls will be returned as quickly as possible.

We can reserve all aspects of your trip, including flights, pre and post trip hotels and rental cars. These items are NOT included in the trip price, but are in addition to regular trip cost and will incur a $50 per person booking fee. There are NO hidden charges on any 4Points trip.


Large Groups

We can accommodate large groups at several front-country campsites within the national park system and at other locations. However, backcountry campsites in most areas are limited to groups no larger than 11. Call us for details about options for your group; contact us early to get the best opportunities for camping and hiking!


Age Requirements

4Points does have a minimum age required on some trips. In most cases 12 is the youngest age for backcountry expeditions. On more difficult trips such as certain Grand Canyon hikes, the age is 16. Please contact us for additional information.


Trip Equipment

4Points guides provide you with state of the art gear for your trip. From backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and pads, to trekking poles, cookware and utensils, you’ll have all you need, and it is all included in the price of the trip.


Meals

We provide a diversity of foods containing the necessary
nutrition for sustained energy output. Meals are made from
staples that travel well in the backcountry – rice, pastas,
lentils, beans, couscous, oatmeal, granola, etc. Meals are also
supplemented with trail foods such as crackers, cheese,
granola, energy bars, fresh and/or dried fruit, and energy
drink mixes.
We regularly accommodate vegan, vegetarian, kosher and
non-gluten diets and will make adjustments for food allergies.
These and other special dietary requests may require an
additional fee.
In addition to your personal belongings, you will be
responsible for carrying a portion of the food.
Important note: It’s critical that you include your dietary needs
in your registration – it’s too late once you’ve arrived!

Just like the equipment, all meals, snacks, drinks, everything you’ll need is provided and is included in the cost of the trip. We try to change and improve our menu constantly, and if you have any ideas, toss them to us and we’ll do what we can to make them happen! Just bring your appetite and your taste buds and we’ll take care of the rest!


Dietary Concerns

No matter what your dietary wishes, Kosher, Gluten-Free, or Vegetarian, we can work with you to provide the perfect menu for your experience. Contact us for details and to discuss your needs. Don’t worry, we promise you’ll be surprised at what we can cook up!


Medical Concerns

4Points trips are open to everyone. If you have medical concerns contact us or consult your physician prior to any trip. We require a complete medical history form to be filled out by all trip participants. All medical information is kept strictly confidential. Reservations

Joining a trip is easy. Just email us, call, or fill out the reservation form and send it in. That’s it! We require a 50% deposit for all trips; the balance is due at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to trip departure. Payments can be made by check, money order, credit card or cash. The deposit is non-refundable and pays for trip planning, permits and camping fees.


Cancellations

Day-hikes require full payment at the time of reservation.

Backpacking trips require a 50% deposit when the initial booking is made. Final payment is required 2 weeks prior to trip departure.

If you need to cancel your trip for any reason contact us AT LEAST 14 days prior to trip departure. If you choose to cancel less than 14 days in advance we cannot provide refunds and your balance is due. At 14 days reservations/permits are confirmed and our guides are booked.

If your trip is canceled by 4Points you are entitled to a full refund or you may reschedule at no charge. 4Points Expeditions guides reserve the right to cancel a trip or program at any time for customer safety.

CPR and Wilderness Medicine courses require full payment at the time of reservation and there are NO REFUNDS for these programs.


Finally

Important note: Guides are required to take 8 hours of each 24
hour period to sleep, recuperate, take personal/down time/
etc. In addition, as part of the 8 hours off they must sleep/rest
or be in their tents uninterrupted for a minimum of 5 hours
each night. We ask guests respect these requirements and to
not interrupt guides’ time off and sleep time unless there is a
true (life threatening) emergency.

All 4Points Guides are certified in at least Wilderness First Responder; many are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) or Paramedics. Every guide meets or exceeds the National Park Service guidelines for training and experience. We do this to make certain you have THE BEST and SAFEST experience possible. Many of our guides have over 250 nights in the wilderness; some have over 1,000. Why? Because WE LOVE WHAT WE DO!
