Santa Cruz Island WFR

4Points was fortunate to be able to bring an amazing group of students to Santa Cruz Island for a Wilderness First Responder course. The location was at the UC Reserve Field Station: The station is a basecamp on The Nature Conservancy property on the Western side of the island. The UC Field Station is an educational paradise located in the heart of the beautiful central valley. The facility has a full kitchen, dining room, lounge area with a wood burning stove, dorm rooms and bathrooms with showers…..it’s an incredible location for our course!

The WFR course is designed to be a challenging program focused on patient assessment and care, teamworrk, leadership, decision-making and of course the hard skills of splinting, litter building and more. Our class was a superb group of young leaders who wanted this traininng for future knowledge. The course allows us the opportunity to explore the island, using our skills in a variety of terrain, emergency scenarios, and challenging access and egress points.

If you are interested in finding out more about WFA or WFR courses, or are ready to sign up for a course, please check out our Emergency Medicine pages to secure your space!
