Yosemite National Park Backpacking

Yosemite National Park is one of the crown jewels of our national park system. Its massive cliffs, remote valleys and secluded alpine meadows and lakes are a backpackers paradise. 4Points staff were lucky enough to bring a group of students for an epic 5 day backpacking trip to one of the parks most iconic trails.

Our route begins at the Porcupine Creek Trailhead; this trail is a perfect mix of remoteness and striking Yosemite scenery. Along the way we explore North Dome, with fantastic views into Yosemite Valley. During this adventure we pass world renowned Yosemite Falls; at 2,425 feet it is one of the tallest waterfalls in the world. Swim in the pools above the falls and visit viewpoints with amazing vistas into the valley. Our other major exploration oppotunity is when we visit the top of El Capitan, one of the most recognizable and striking natural features in any national park. a long dayhike brings us to the top of El Cap from the ‘back side’ and as we get closer and closer to the edge the views become more and more spectacular. If you dare, we have a secret spot where you can peer over the edge down the full 3,000’ length of the wall itself.

This trip can be done in a variety of ways including 4 day, 5 day, or custom made with your own time frame. Don’t wait, summer and fall are the best times of year!
